Indiana Pacers point guard George Hill has been busy this offseason finding ways to help kids both locally and in other areas while honing his reputation as an exemplary representative of the Pacers and the NBA.
After gaining some attention for skipping a Team USA tryout camp for his own kids camp and then helping out local schools with supplies and toy give aways, Hill recently went to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti as part of a trip with Kids Against Hunger to pass out food and make appearances which included basketball clinics and even playing some soccer with the kids.
It is one thing for his sponsors and the team to tout his charitable efforts, but seeing his impact from some folks in Haiti doing actual charitable work as part of a ministry reveals the strong impact G3 had during his visit. Jim and Cheryl Warner are spending the year in Haiti and are blogging their experiences along the way. They have a couple of great posts about Hill's visit with some fantastic pictures. They also summed up the impression Hill left.
It was both fun and a privilege to have George Hill in Haiti. Pray with us that his work and ministry off the court will continue on and be strong! He is a great guy with a big heart. And I think I am rapidly becoming an Indiana Pacers fan. I will be watching and rooting for you George! Let's cheer him on together.
